PATIENT GUIDE

Initial Consultation and Evaluation in IVF Treatment

The initial consultation is the starting stage where your pregnancy history, current test results, previous treatments, and personal needs are evaluated together. The aim is to holistically examine your situation and create a suitable roadmap for you.

What is the Purpose of the Initial Consultation?

The initial consultation is not just an appointment to review test results, but a comprehensive evaluation where the foundation of your treatment journey is established.

During the consultation, your desire for pregnancy, how long you have been planning a pregnancy, previous pregnancies, miscarriages, surgeries, current illnesses, and previously applied treatments are discussed in detail.

Female and male reproductive health are evaluated together. Based on the current findings, it is determined whether additional examinations are needed and which treatment options can be considered.

  • Assessment of medical and reproductive health history
  • Review of previous test and treatment results
  • Addressing female and male factors together
  • Identification of missing or tests that need to be renewed
  • Creation of a personalized evaluation plan

What Should Be Prepared for the Initial Consultation?

Preparing the information and documents you have in advance will help your doctor evaluate your treatment history in more detail.

01

Hormone tests, ultrasound results, hysterosalpingography (HSG) results, semen analysis, and genetic test results if available.

02

Previous Treatment Reports

Doctor and laboratory reports from previous IUI or IVF treatments.

What is Discussed in the Initial Consultation?

Your doctor examines your current situation not based on a single test result, but by evaluating different medical and personal factors together.

  1. 01

    Pregnancy History

The duration of your pregnancy desire, previous pregnancies, births, miscarriages, and ectopic pregnancy history are evaluated.

  2. 02

    Menstrual Regularity

The regularity of the menstrual cycle, its duration, pain status, and symptoms that may affect ovulation are discussed.

  3. 03

    Previous Treatments

Medications used, ovarian response, number of eggs retrieved, and embryo development results are reviewed.

  4. 04

    General Health Status

Chronic illnesses, previous surgeries, medications used, and health factors that may affect pregnancy are evaluated.

  5. 05

    Expectations and Planning

Your expectations from the treatment, your timeline, the duration you can stay in Cyprus, and your personal circumstances are discussed.

Female and Male are Evaluated Together

Since factors that may affect the pregnancy process can be present in both partners, the evaluation is not conducted solely based on the female.

01FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH

Female Evaluation

Age, menstrual regularity, ovarian reserve, uterine structure, tubal status, previous surgeries, and previous pregnancies are evaluated together.

  • Menstrual and ovulation history
  • Findings related to ovarian reserve
  • Evaluation of the uterus and ovaries
  • Pregnancy and miscarriage history
  • Endometriosis or other gynecological conditions
02MALE REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH

Male Evaluation

Along with semen analysis, past illnesses, surgeries, medications used, and lifestyle factors that may affect reproductive health are evaluated.

  • Sperm count and motility
  • Sperm morphology
  • History of urological diseases and surgeries
  • Medications used
  • Previous pregnancy or treatment history

Which Examinations Can Be Performed During the Initial Consultation?

Not every patient undergoes the same tests. The examinations requested are determined based on your age, health history, and current results.

During in-person consultations, a gynecological examination and ultrasound evaluation may be performed if deemed necessary. The current status of the uterus and ovaries is examined to determine if additional tests are needed.

In the male evaluation, a current semen analysis may be requested. If the results show a significant problem, a urology or andrology evaluation may be recommended.

  • Ultrasound evaluation of the uterus and ovaries
  • Review of hormone tests related to ovarian reserve
  • Current semen analysis
  • Advanced examinations for the uterus and tubes if necessary
  • Genetic or additional laboratory tests based on the medical condition
