EmbryoGlue

EMBRYO TRANSFER SUPPORT

EmbryoGlue Application in Cyprus

EmbryoGlue is a specialized transfer medium enriched with hyaluronan, used prior to embryo transfer. It can be considered a supportive laboratory application during the stage when the embryo is transferred into the uterus.

What Is EmbryoGlue?

EmbryoGlue is not a substance that physically glues the embryo to the uterus, but rather a specialized laboratory solution used during embryo transfer.

This transfer medium is enriched with a component called hyaluronan. Before being placed into the uterus, the selected embryo is taken into this special solution under controlled laboratory conditions. The aim of the EmbryoGlue application is to support the environment in which the embryo is placed during transfer and to help create favorable conditions for its initial contact with the uterine lining.
  • Used during embryo transfer
  • Does not require a separate surgical procedure
  • No adhesive is applied separately into the uterus
  • Does not physically attach the embryo to the uterine wall
  • Suitability is assessed according to the individual treatment plan
What Does the Word “Glue” Imply? While “glue” means adhesive in everyday language, no actual adhesive substance is used in the application. EmbryoGlue is the commercial name of the special culture and transfer medium into which the embryo is placed.

How Is EmbryoGlue Applied?

The application is a brief laboratory stage added to the standard embryo transfer process.
  1. 01

    Evaluation of the Embryo

On the day of transfer, the development characteristics of the embryos are assessed by expert embryologists, and the embryo to be transferred is selected.
  2. 02

    Placing into the Transfer Medium

The selected embryo is kept in the special EmbryoGlue solution containing hyaluronan under controlled conditions before the transfer.
  3. 03

    Embryo Transfer

The embryo, along with the transfer solution, is drawn into a thin catheter and placed into the uterus by the doctor under ultrasound guidance.
Does the Patient Undergo Any Additional Procedure? No. The use of EmbryoGlue does not require any additional injections for the patient, a different procedure applied to the uterus, or extra anesthesia.

Who Is EmbryoGlue Suitable For?

EmbryoGlue is not a mandatory application for every patient. The decision to use it is made by the doctor and embryology team after a joint evaluation.
01

Previous Failed Transfers

It may be considered for patients who have not achieved pregnancy despite the transfer of well-developed embryos in the past.
02

Recurrent Implantation Issues

It may come into consideration for selected patients who are thought to have recurrent implantation problems after embryo transfer.
03

Fresh Embryo Transfer

It can be used for patients planned for fresh embryo transfer, depending on embryo development and the laboratory protocol.
04

Frozen Embryo Transfer

The option of using it can be considered for embryos to be transferred after thawing, based on laboratory evaluation.
!

Not Necessary for Every Patient

The decision to use EmbryoGlue is not based solely on previous treatment failure. Embryo development, the condition of the uterine lining, the transfer day, previous treatment records, and personal health information should all be evaluated together.

Does EmbryoGlue Increase the Chance of Success?

While there are scientific studies on the contribution of EmbryoGlue usage to pregnancy and live birth outcomes, the results are not the same across all patient groups.

Some studies report that hyaluronan-containing transfer media may offer positive contributions, while other studies have not demonstrated a significant benefit. Therefore, EmbryoGlue should be considered a supportive laboratory application that can be used during embryo transfer, not an independent treatment that guarantees success.
  • Does not guarantee pregnancy or live birth
  • Does not change embryo quality
  • Does not correct genetic problems in the embryo
  • Is not a treatment for uterine issues
  • Success depends on the combined effect of many different factors
Key Factors Affecting Success Age, egg and sperm characteristics, embryo development, the genetic structure of the embryo, the suitability of the uterine lining, transfer technique, and previous treatment outcomes should all be evaluated together.

Things You Should Know About the Application

01 NO ADDITIONAL PROCEDURE

Not a Separate Operation

EmbryoGlue is a transfer medium used in the laboratory. No separate surgical procedure is performed on the patient.
03 INDIVIDUAL DECISION

Not Recommended for Every Patient

Whether the application is necessary is determined based on treatment history, embryo characteristics, and laboratory planning.

Frequently Asked Questions About EmbryoGlue

Does EmbryoGlue attach the embryo to the uterus?
No. EmbryoGlue is not a real adhesive. It is a special transfer solution containing hyaluronan in which the embryo is placed before transfer.
Is EmbryoGlue application painful?
The application is performed in the laboratory setting. No additional painful procedure is performed on the patient beyond the standard embryo transfer.
Is anesthesia required for EmbryoGlue?
Anesthesia is not administered separately for the use of EmbryoGlue. Whether anesthesia is needed for the standard embryo transfer is determined by the doctor based on the patient’s individual condition.
Can it be used in frozen embryo transfer?
Its use can be considered depending on the condition of the embryo after thawing, the transfer plan, and the laboratory protocol.
Does EmbryoGlue guarantee pregnancy?
No. No transfer medium can guarantee that the embryo will implant in the uterus or that pregnancy will occur. Success depends on many medical and biological factors.
Who decides if EmbryoGlue should be used?
The decision to use it is made by evaluating the patient’s treatment history along with the doctor and embryology team. It is not necessary to use it routinely for every patient.
