Our Laboratory and Technologies

We manage the most delicate stages of IVF treatment through controlled laboratory conditions, advanced technology systems and our experienced embryology team.

The Vita Altera IVF Embryology Laboratory has been designed to provide a safe, controlled and traceable working environment at every stage—from the assessment of egg and sperm cells and fertilisation procedures to embryo development monitoring, freezing and storage.

We use our technological infrastructure as a tool to support the expert assessments of our embryologists and manage each patient’s laboratory process in accordance with their personalised treatment plan.

A Controlled Environment for Delicate Procedures

Embryo development is an extremely delicate process that can be affected by changes in temperature, gas levels, humidity and air quality.

The environmental conditions in our laboratory are regularly monitored in accordance with established control plans. Incubators, microscopes, micromanipulation systems and cryopreservation equipment undergo periodic maintenance and technical inspections.

Following egg retrieval, cell assessment, fertilisation, embryo monitoring, embryo selection and freezing procedures are performed according to controlled working protocols, with all relevant stages documented.

Embryology Procedures Supported by Advanced Technology

Our laboratory technologies support the detailed assessment of embryo development, help enhance sample security and contribute to the controlled management of every procedural step.

Advanced embryology laboratory technologies at Vita Altera IVF

EmbryoScope+ Time-Lapse

Allows embryos to be imaged at regular intervals and their development to be monitored in detail without removing them from the incubator environment.

Chip ID Security System

Supports the accurate matching of patient samples with the correct identity and the traceable monitoring of laboratory procedures.

AI-Assisted Analysis

Provides our embryology team with digital analysis tools to support the assessment of sperm motility and morphology.

Micromanipulation and ICSI

Highly precise laboratory systems that allow a selected sperm cell to be injected directly into an egg through microinjection.

Vitrification Technology

Enables eggs, sperm and embryos to be preserved under appropriate conditions through rapid freezing for possible future use.

Controlled Incubation

Helps maintain the temperature, gas concentration and humidity required for embryo development at stable and balanced levels.

Continuous Monitoring of Embryo Development

The EmbryoScope+ Time-Lapse system helps monitor embryo development while maintaining controlled incubator conditions.

The system records images of developing embryos at regular intervals. These images enable our embryologists to assess the timing of cell divisions and the developmental characteristics of each embryo in detail.

Embryo selection is not based solely on data generated by the system. The patient’s treatment plan, the embryo’s developmental characteristics and the embryologist’s expert assessment are considered together.

Sample Security and Traceability

Accurately matching egg, sperm and embryo samples with the correct patient identity is one of our laboratory’s foremost safety priorities.

The Chip ID system helps match samples, containers and workstations with the relevant patient information. Electronic monitoring of each procedural step supports traceability throughout the laboratory process.

This technological framework is used alongside the identity verification and double-check procedures followed by our embryology team.

Vitrification and Cryopreservation

Reproductive cells and embryos can be preserved under appropriate medical conditions using advanced freezing and storage methods.

Vitrification is a freezing technique based on the ultra-rapid cooling of cells. In suitable cases, it allows eggs and embryos to be preserved for possible future use.

Freezing, storage and thawing procedures are performed in accordance with defined laboratory protocols, identity verification steps and regular storage tank inspections.

Quality Control and Continuous Monitoring

Maintaining a reliable laboratory environment requires regular measurement, maintenance, documentation and evaluation.

Temperature, gas levels, humidity, equipment performance and the suitability of working areas are monitored through scheduled checks. Consumables, procedural records and laboratory protocols form an integral part of our quality management approach.

Technical data relating to the laboratory infrastructure and daily control results are documented to support process continuity and traceability.

The Core Principles of Our Laboratory Approach

We combine scientific assessment, advanced technological infrastructure and experienced teamwork with a strong focus on patient safety.

Combining Technology with Expertise

Advanced technology systems can make a meaningful contribution to treatment when used correctly by an experienced team.

Our embryologists evaluate laboratory data, cellular development characteristics and each patient’s personalised treatment plan together. Regular communication between our doctors and embryology team ensures that the clinical and laboratory stages are managed through an integrated approach.

Our aim is to achieve a considered balance between scientific practice, technological capabilities and personalised assessment.
