PATIENT GUIDE

Getting Started with IVF Treatment

Deciding to begin IVF treatment can raise many questions, from the initial consultation and necessary assessments to treatment planning and travelling to Cyprus. At Vita Altera IVF, we plan every stage with a clear, carefully managed and personalised approach.

The First Step in Your Treatment Journey

The first step when beginning IVF treatment is to have your current situation assessed comprehensively.

Every patient has a different age, pregnancy history, ovarian reserve, menstrual cycle, semen analysis, previous treatment history and overall health condition. For this reason, treatment should not follow a standard programme. It should be planned individually following a medical assessment. The purpose of the initial consultation is not simply to recommend a treatment, but to assess the factors that may affect pregnancy and create the most appropriate treatment pathway.
  • Assessment of both female and male fertility factors
  • Review of previous test and treatment results
  • Identification of treatment options suited to your individual needs
  • Planning of your treatment schedule and stay in Cyprus

Every Treatment Journey Is Different

The treatment method and timing are not determined by a single test result.

Your doctor will consider your age, ovarian reserve, uterine structure, sperm characteristics, previous pregnancies and treatment outcomes together.Following this assessment, the suitability of IVF, ICSI, donation programmes, fertility preservation or another assisted reproductive treatment may be determined.
Important InformationNot every enquiry made to our clinic results in the immediate start of IVF treatment. The most appropriate treatment method is determined following a medical assessment.

What Information and Documents Should You Prepare?

Preparing your available medical records before the initial consultation can help your doctor assess your treatment history in greater detail.
01Hormone test and ultrasound results
02Semen analysis and any available urology reports
03Information about previous pregnancies, miscarriages or ectopic pregnancies
04Reports from previous intrauterine insemination or IVF treatments
05Embryo development and embryo transfer records
06Current medications and known health conditions
07Reports relating to previous surgical procedures
08Information about known genetic conditions in the family

You may request a consultation even if you do not have all of these documents. After reviewing your available results, your doctor will determine whether any additional tests are required.

When Should You Seek a Fertility Assessment?

The appropriate time to seek an assessment may vary according to your age, medical history and any existing factors that may affect your chances of pregnancy.
<35 years of age

After 12 Months

A fertility assessment may be recommended if pregnancy has not occurred after 12 months of regular, unprotected intercourse.
40+ years of age

Seek Assessment Without Delay

An earlier and more comprehensive medical assessment may be appropriate.
!

In Some Cases, You May Not Need to Wait

An earlier assessment may be required if you have irregular menstrual cycles, reduced ovarian reserve, endometriosis, fallopian tube problems, abnormal semen analysis results, recurrent pregnancy loss or another known condition that may affect reproductive health.

What Should You Ask Before Starting Treatment?

It is important to have a clear understanding of your treatment plan, available alternatives and any proposed additional procedures.
Why is the recommended treatment suitable for me?
You can ask your doctor which medical findings support the recommended treatment and whether there are any alternative options you may consider.
During which stages of treatment do I need to be in Cyprus?
The length of time you need to spend at our clinic may vary according to your treatment programme. Dates are planned based on your medical assessment and menstrual cycle.
Which procedures are included in the treatment fee?
You can ask in advance whether medications, laboratory procedures, genetic tests, freezing and storage services are included in your treatment plan.
Do I really need the recommended additional procedures?
Not every additional test or laboratory procedure is necessary for every patient. The purpose, scientific evidence, expected benefit and cost of the recommended procedure should be discussed with your doctor.
How is my individual chance of success assessed?
The chance of success depends on many factors, including age, ovarian reserve, sperm characteristics, embryo development, uterine structure and previous treatment outcomes. A precise success rate should not be given without an individual medical assessment.
